about

Written for the exhibition “The Art Of Identity” at The British Council

“Thus, while this work contains some formal ideas and the world view, the world view is not important. To talk we need to use words; to walk we need a direction. Eventually the direction of the author may be discarded: the important thing is to walk gracefully and with dignity."
Borna Babek

Road To Acceptance is a sound installation that examines trans-cultural identity.

It uses a format of a traditional Aboriginal story, Dolphin dream time, traditionally used to teach children meditation methods.

Once in a meditative state the listener is lead through a landscape of the writer’s place of origin, Bosnia, viewed from a 13 year distance of exile and then onto contemporary subjects that preoccupy the writer at the present time.

The “Alien scene” was devised as a vehicle of examining the universal human identity.

Road To Acceptance is an attempt to escape the narrow viewpoint of national and address issues of a global generation and its quest for the recognition of its identity and its perspective of individualism.
